WHY DOES STYLE MATTER?
Style is your ‘fashion armour’ for the day. Each day you create who you want to be (mum, boss, friend etc.) through clothes, accessories and make up.
Your style is an embodiment of all you create, how is this a reflection of you?
I take notice of trends but love to put my own stamp on them and achieve this through a ‘multi-wear’ philosophy. A top, skirt and scarf can be worn in so many more ways than the traditional purpose. Scarves wrapped around hips, belts or head, tops half-tucked, unbuttoned or knotted at the waist and skirt’s can be layered over pants. As a new mother, my style is also a little more comfortable where statement flats and scarves are an everyday essential.
WHICH ARTISTS ARE INFLUENCING & INSPIRING YOU RIGHT NOW?
I’m always inspired by Carine Roitfield, Helmut Newton and Vincent Van Gogh.
Who are a couple of women whose style you most admire?
Christine Centenera for her unique interpretations; Victoria Beckham for the ability to transition from ‘femme’ to ‘masculine’ styling so effortlessly; and my mother for her ability to wear and style colour.
What’s the most exciting thing happening now in the world of music?
I love that the visual aspect of music (film clips, show tours etc.) are of importance now. The sets, costumes, visual effects and story lines enhance the song and meaning.
Who inspires you?
Rachel Zoe – she turned a styling career into a multi-million dollar business.
Why do you love sass & bide?
sass & bide pieces have this incredible ability to make a statement, yet stand the test of time. I have pieces in my wardrobe that are over 10 years old and still look relevant and modern when worn out and about today. I always get compliments when wearing sass & bide.
